With a dedication to getting work done, Michael Fark has strong ties to the riding of Yellowhead and a depth of experience in crisis management, local government processes, and international humanitarian work.

Michael has a proven track record of advocating and delivering results for Yellowhead communities. As the Director of Recovery for the Town of Jasper after the devastating 2024 Jasper wildfire, he has used his calm and diplomatic approach to secure interim housing, supporting residents impacted by the disaster. Additionally, he worked to secure critical financial support, by navigating the complex politics of overlapping municipal, provincial, and federal government jurisdictions.

Prior to Jasper, Michael made an impact as the General Manager of Municipal Infrastructure for the Town of Canmore, where he balanced the important priorities of managing public resources while also advancing affordable housing and wildlife co-existence initiatives.

Michael devoted much of his early career to humanitarian work, holding several leadership roles with Doctors Without Borders, and leading efforts in some of the world's most complex and challenging environments. His commitment to global health is evident through his ongoing work with the Board of Directors for Doctors Without Borders, where he plays an active role in shaping strategic decisions and supporting crisis management.

With a master’s in political economics, Michael has a solid understanding of the economic and political forces that shape rural communities and a nation as diverse as Canada. He knows first-hand the interplay between people’s livelihoods and the complexities of the political decisions at each level of government. Before his work overseas, and in local government, Michael worked as a stone mason and home builder. He understands the challenges faced by small businesses and how to get work done.

Michael brings a value driven and action-based attitude and looks forward to engaging with folks throughout the riding to discuss their priorities and concerns in order to bring those voices to Ottawa.
